    Pythagorean Theorem

    Teorema de Pitágoras

A ladder 1313 metres long leans against a wall. The foot of the ladder is 55 metres from the wall. How high up the wall does the ladder reach?

A right-angled triangle. The wall rises on the right, the ground runs along the bottom, and the ladder is the sloping side. The foot of the ladder is 5 metres from the wall, the ladder is 13 metres long, and the height reached up the wall is marked with a question mark.5 m?13 m

Use a2+h2=c2a^2 + h^2 = c^2. The ladder is the hypotenuse cc; the wall and the ground are the two legs.

    Solution

    Step 1 of 5

    1. 1.52+h2=1325^2 + h^2 = 13^2
